It is design challenge time again and this time I have been tasked with making a boarding pass. I chose to go the route of making a boarding pass for my fictitious airline company called Ostrich Airlines. After doing some research on what an airline boarding pass should have on it, I started layout it out. I added some cool features like being able to scan it to your phone to save a copy in case you lose the paper copy. I also added a textured background to make sure that copies of the ticket cannot be made. I even went as far as finding a font that looks like the text printed from an actual boarding pass. I like the way it came out but am starting to wonder if these design challenges are leaning to far into the UI design realm and not far enough into the UX design realm. I think my next challenge will be to move one of my case studies from a mid fidelity UX prototype into a high fidelity UI prototype. We will see what my time allows me to do (working as a freelancer, job hunting, networking and blogging is a full time job).

Hi, I'm Justin Pierce. I am a newly certified UX Designer with a background in Graphic Design, Web Design, and am a part-time hatchet-throwing photographer. To say I am new to this blogging thing is an understatement. I have added blogs to client websites before but never actually had to sit down and write one myself. Here goes nothing…
